Owing t) tho short time at tho disposal of tho Government ho could not now propose radical chunges, which would bo reserved for oar'ynexfc session. Ho wis compelled to rely this year on economical reforms. Tho receipts onded Juno 30 wore £11,453,744, a shortage of £53,810 on the Into Treasurer's estimate, Tho gross ox* pcudituro wns £11,1385,947. During tho current financial year the estimated rot ceipts would bo £11,485,010. Tho new taxes on privnto whurvos are expoctoil to yield .£15,000, and £IO,OOO is expected from wharfage on goods. Tho amended stamp dpty provides for £25.000, making the total receipts £11,500,623. The expendi* turo is estimated at £11,523,000, but by various economies this may be reduced, leaving a surplns of £83,000, which w'll be utilised to redueo tho cash overdrafts brought forward from last financial year, totalling £524,000. Mr. CamUliot's hopes to alter the status of the State Governorship to that obtaining in Canada. The Civil Servico salaries nco not touched, but in regard to promotions £150,000 per annum will bo saved for threo years. Tho Agency-Goneral is to bo abolished. iV Local Government Mill will ho tho chief work ofnoxt session, The loan expenditure ou public works could without injury bo reduced to a miH'on annually. During ibo present year £2,400,000 "will require to bo borrowed to meet tho loans fulling due,'
