A RKBTixn of the Waihi branch of tho Liberal and Labour Federation was held las evening at tho Miners' Union Hall, The business was mainly for tho elce' lion of officers, T/tc election resulted «s follows : President, Mr JJ. Donaldson. Vice president, Mr J.Foster, Socrctary, Mr J, (1. Carpenter. Treasurer, Mr J. E. slcvin. Committee:—Messrs, John Henderson, 11, MacMillian, H, Wimstrorg, T, Wood, W, J, Gardiner, It, ft. Lewis, M, 1). King S. McNaughton, J. Law, F, M. Holgor.J. Crosn, It, Newdick, and Jas, W. Graham, Tho Secretary reportod tho rosult of his communication with Mr. Seddon, and said that tho Premier had stated ho would be up eooii after tho session, and present the chartor of tho branch, It was resolved to malto the necessary arrangements for tho reception of the visitor, The Seorctary road a tolegvam he had received from tho Premier in answer to tho congratulatory ineieago on bis recovery to health, that was sent to hiin in accordance with a resolution of hist meeting, The reply was as follows: - " Please convey to tho mecling.if Liberals my sinccro thanks for thoir kind congratulatioiu respecting my health, which lam happy to say is now almost completely restored, Kind regards." Arrangements wero mado for prominent political gcntlomon to give addressesfrom timo to timo. A resolution was carried to tho efl'eet that the secretary open up negotiations with the other brunches with a view of holding a conforenco a! Tauranga to select a eandidato to contest the uoxt eloction, Mr, Morvyn J, Stowart was in the chair, and a hearty vote of thanks to him terminated tho meeting.
