THE COUNTY ELECTION.
The following were the results of. tho County elections, held on Wednesday:— PATEA. Otoia Riding.—Messrs K. H. Cave 172. G. Y. Pearce 159 (re-elected), S. Blake ,156 (re-elected!. J. E. Death 123 (re-elected), James Gibbes 121, John R. Taylor 104, and Stuart McDonald 64. The four'firstnamed were elected. ■ Waverley Riding.—Messrs Jas. Coombo 146, 11. G. Dickie 116, Oscar Symcs 116 (re-elected), James Kennedy 100 (re-elect-ed), and George Johnson 97. The first four were re-elected. In the Kapara riding tho sitting cmincillor. Mr W. Van Ascii. defeated Mr A. Bretherton by 42 votes to 21. HAWERA COUNTY. Only i ntbc Hawera riding was there a contest, and Messrs Goodland and Murdoch were returned by substantial majorities;—Goodland 185, Murdoch 150, Brown 109, Welsh 90- ■ . • WAIMATE. The election of members for the Waimate County was held at Manaia on Wednesday. Four members were required for the Waimate Riding, and three for the Kaupokonui Riding, and tho following is, the result of the poll:—D. J. Hughes 226, E. Long 206, T. McPhillips 195, W. I.e Fleming 187, G. Glenn 142, W. Snowden 139, J. Cassidy 43,, E. Betts 38. T. Bridge 110. D. Scott 99, G. Haroourt 78, P. Knight 58, R. Dunn 40.
