TOBACCO IV! ISSI NG r ROM STE AM ER. Eight Wharf Hands Cormpitted for Trial. (Pei United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 9. ■At the Police -Court to-day eight wharf labourers elected to be .tried' by a jury bn a charge of theft of 221bs of tobacco from 'the steamer 1 Moanaon October 27. .Evidence was given to the effect that''the cases-.were in good order when stowed at Melbourne; on discharging at Wellington a case was found to be damaged, and a quantity of tobacco, was ..missing. , Accused wore working in the hold at the time. When being, searched olio (Young) dropped a plug on the floor. All the defendants were committed for trial.
