Lindsay, who was .installed 'as. moderator last night,.presidedThe treasurer's statement s-t forth-'that the. congregational contributions amount ! ■ed to ,£22,197 7s sd, :n increase of £S5(< ,10s 8d over the previous year, and donations, and legacies had been larger tliar usual. Attention was, again drawn to the. state of Knox College fund,. £240 being due to Professor Hewitson'for salary up tc, June 30. Beneficiary- funds-showed sub stantial increase. Eiglit members, joined ■the aged and infirm ministers’ fund and 11 the widows’ and orphans’ fund duping .the year. One member had been removed ‘frjjm both funds through .cca-shig to bo ■ minister of the-church ;-ud amounts'owing by him had been written off. Attention , was „agfiiu_ . directed to the, regulation ■■ ■which provides two years in arrears w'thSubscription.’ This wilr'at once affect.about 20 members of, both funds- unless! ■ they, .reduce their indebtedness or the. assembly take steps for their relief, The report. also stated that in view of the law regarding compensation .it was worth' while to consider ' whether all deaconscourts,, committees of management and! mission; committees ...should; not. be . ad-' Aised to insure, ministers and miisibnar’es ) against the risk of accident. The income of the assembly expenses mud has fallen -about £4OO below the expenditure! for the ,',year. The cost,of railway travelling had largely increased.. , , Rev.
