EGMONT A. & P. SHOW.

(By Telegraph.) (From Our Special Reporter.) , - HAWERA, November 9. The annual Show of the Egmont A. anil P. Association was continued to-day. The country people, as well as visitors from alt around, flocked in in good numbers, and an attendance that can compare favourably with other years is recorded. Romneys were a very even class, and vary keen competition resulted, the judge* remarking that the animals shown were a really fine showing, and a credit to the show. Mr J. D. Hughes, of Whenuakura, who showed some splendid examples of tins popular breed, was awarded the championship for a ram, besides also annexing four firsts and a second in the four classes he showed in. H. P. Best, of Normandy,’ who had the largest entry " sheet in thi class, was also very successful, for besides winning the championship for ewe, he filled almost all the other places. Hugh Middleton, of Waverley, did very well with his Grade Lincolns, scooping th< pool in the three classes, taking all the first, two of the second, and' one of the third prizes. The other second prize wasawarded to W. H. Wybourne, of-W hemickura. Shropshire Downs were only poorly re presented, both as far as numbers ant quality were concerned. A. A. Piper, of Mercmcre, and T. Ash, of ’ Hawera, divided the honours in ewes, no rams being shown. . Grade Border Leicesters were anothei small class, A. S. Tonks, of Hawera, being the only exhibitor. W. H. Wybourne, of Whemiakura, wapthe only exhibitor in the Lincolns, and he was awarded; prizes with his 35 entries in the. nine classes. Both championships third for the ram, carrying with-it G. V. Pearce, M.P.’s, gold medal, went te this popular breder. Mr Wybourne, bv bis large-percentage of prizes in this class, wins Messrs Bennett and Britton’s £5 5b ; trophy for tho most points in purebred sheep, having won this trophy in both ■ 1909 and 1910. Freezers were a good class, and the entries were very good. Hugh Middleton and A. E. and A. Byrnes, of Waverley, divider the honours, the former getting a first second, arid third, and the latter twe firsts, a second, two thirds, and a highh commended. lln ■ English Leicesters the well-knowi. Palmerston North breeder, Mr S. R. Lan-caster-was the only, exhibitor. Border Leicesters were a good class, the eritries being .very good, but the stock sent in by Mr Jos; Dowthwaito, of Fordell, war superior to tho local product, and he was awarded six firsts, with both champion-ships,’-and three seconds, with nine entries, ,a very creditable performance. Mr A. S. Tonks, of Hawera, filled tho other places in the prize list. The Moumahaki Experimental Farm had entered sheep in this class, but they wore not shown. Southdowns were a big class, Moorr Hunter’s, estate (Hawera), James Knighi (Feildiiig), Ellis Bros. (Bulls), and S. R Lancaster being well represented. In tin judge’s opinion this was one of the finest sheep .classes on the ground. Knight took the blue ribbon for rams, while Ellis Bros, took that for ewes and tho reserve for rams. S. R. Lancaster was successful ir winning the ewe reserve. Keen competition marked the horse classes, , the awards being well divided among local exhibitors. The entries were not very large for the dairy produce section. The cheese classes resulted; Coloured.— Greytown, (Wairarapa) 1 Ngaere 2, Kaponga 3. Whiter—Greytown 1, Ngaere 2, Manntnhi 3. •. Butter (Association’s Jl2O prize).—Kaponga 1, Cheltenham 2, Bell Block 3. Butter (suitable for, export).—Cheltenham 1, Bell Block 2, Biinnytliorpe 3. Keen interest was takeri iri the competitions. Mrs G. Campbell, of Brunswick was third in the driving competition, and J. M. Old, of Waverley, was third in the maiden hunters’ competition. The hunting competition was won by J. R. McDonald : (Levin), with E. Morrison (Masterton) second, and J. Robertson (Inaha) •third.
