Sir George Bxhd, in a- letter to the newspapers, contradicts a pamphlet circulated with the intention of discouraging emigrants to Australia-and New Zealand. The pamphlet alleges, that, conscription will bo enforced on all males between 12 and 55 years of age. Sir George Eeid explains the general principles of the defence schemes, and states that, it is supremely ridiculous to describe it as conscription.
