EGMONT A. & P. ASSOCIATION

THE HAWERA SHOW. It would be seen on reference to the list published yesterday i that the entries for the Egmout A. and P. Association’s annual show are, considering the late seasons, very satisfactory. To secure this result the responsible officials have made enthusiastic efforts. The society’s members, therefore, while they may derive pleasure from the prospects for this year’s fcihow, should not forget that great credit is due to tjicir officials. In a district that is making rapid strides in connection with farming mattrs an increased interest in the society’s welfare and its annual Show is only a natural sequence. But undoubtedly the marked advancement and development generally in pastoral affairs throughout the district is in great measure duo to the activities of the Egmont Association. That the outlook for the coming Show is so promising is a matter for congratulation to all concerned. An idea of the enterprise on the part of the executive committee may he gathered from the improvements made to ground fixtures during the past month or so. Thd society is in a flourishing condition, no fewer than 139 new members and one life member have been added since the annual meeting in May last, and the membership is now up to about 740, a record. In addition to the assured high quality display in stock sections, the homo industries division promises to bo of great interest by reason of its large entries, and the ring events should also prove attractive, some splendid southern horses competing. The usual side-show element will be present in good force. All indications are of a promising order, and, under favourable weather conditions, this week’s carnival should easily surpass any held previously in Hawera.
