ALEXANDRA CAVALRY OLD MEMBERS' ASSOCIATION.
The 4 fi rst'’annual general meeting of the above Association was held oil Saturday evening at-the Masonic Hall Buildings. Considering the very boisterous arid, wet nig..., there was a good attendance of old members. In the absence of the; president Cummins) through indisposition,; Lieut.-Colonel James Watt took the chair. The secretary, Capt. Morgan, Y.D., read the report, of the committee for the year, which, disclosed -a 4 very successful first, year’s working.' The nominal roll contain- • $d.300 names, and the actual roll of joined members was 68. Although the members are scattered throughout-the Dominion,;it 1 is hoped more will-join this-year. ; 1 Tkecommittee meetings had-, been well at-; tended during the year, and useful work done. both for the Association and for the Alexandra. Mounted Rifles; Tire inaugural meeting of the Association 4 last March passed off very satisfactorily, and though .beaten in the rifle, match on. thjit day by the younger members of 4 the ’old,-corps, they were still .ready to try agpinv The inhugural supperron, 4 the evening of the Same days was very enjoyable; many old comrades being present. Just after--the .st' Aft of the Association .death claimed our patron, Colonel ■J. 1L Sommcrville,- V;Dv. by which the Association lost.; an everready helper and friend. -Mr Hy. N.-Har-rison, an old officer of the corps, .and,'the oldest past officer living of the old corps, had been elected to fill the patron's position. 4 hue committee hoped that the com* ing year would soe many more of the old members join, and help to keep the Association join. • ■ The balance-sheet, as read by the treasurer, Mr T. ftllison, disclosed a verysatisfactory condition of affairs as regards finance. 1 . . , ■■■••, ", Bp in' .report 4 and balance-sheet were adopted. .The election of officers resulted as follows ;-Tpatrbn, Air H; N;, Harrison (rer elected); president, Lieut.-Col. -Jasr Watt, V.D.: vice-president, 4 Mr Jas. Higgle; 1 hop. sec., Capt. E. R. Morgan, V.D. (reelected) ; treasurer. Air T. illisbh (reelected); auditor; Mr Haworth; committee, . Gapts. C. L. Sommerville and Jho. Ganieron, Messrs N. B. Garner, J. D. McGregor, and T. p. Cummins,. with officers ex officio. ’-, / ■ , • Lieut.-Col. Watt, in thanking 4 the bers for, having placed him in the honourable position of president, said‘he appreciated the honour*-and would do his utmost 4 to promote the welfare of the -Association ; and flaked' comrades to assist him also by putting plenty of vim into the business and doing all they could to bring In new members. 4 The re-Union, it was -agreed, should takeplace about* the anniversary of last year’s, Via., 2nd March, to consist of a r rifle match-in-the afternoon between the.present A.M.A., if possible a team.representing old members of the Wairoa Light Horse Cavalry, and the Associations’ in the evening -.a, supper. 4 Details wercrleft in the hands of the committee.
