FISHING SEASON, 1911

That the upper reaches of the Wanganui River are now teeming with trout is evidenced by the fact that on the opening day of the tourist season one disciple of Isaac Walton caught 29 fine fish, whilst nine rods captured over 100. It is estimated that between the Houseboat and Tauraaruuui there were over 70 rods at work. The fish are now constantly being seen by the river steamer men right along tho river.
