THE MANAWATU SHOW.

(Per United Press Association). PALMERSTON N„ November 3. There was a beautiful day and a tremendous crowd for People's Day at the Manawatu Show. The grand parade was a feature of the show, and provided the finest display of stock over seen on the ground. The total takings for the three days at the gates and stands were .£IO7B, a decrease of .£ls compared with last year, almost entirely due to the falling-off in the takings at the stands. Mr E. D. O’Rorko (Auckland) won the hunters’ competition, with Cloister for the third successive year, and the Challenge Cup, valued at 15 guineas, presented hv the ladies of the Manawatu and Rangitikoi districts, becomes his property. The same owner's Kierau was selected to jump off for second place, but was withdrawn. Mr O’Eork'e being satisfied with winning the cup. Watson’s Yeast defeated Rangitoto for second place. Other competitions were won ns follows : Pony Loaning.—T. Cameron’s Blue Bell. Harness Horse, stylo and action.—G. A. Harrison’s Yae Victis. Lady’s and Gentleman’s Hack, indged as a pair.—E. Nelson’s Regret and Montana Ring. Ladv Driver.—Miss 0. Robertson. Special prizes were won as follows; Mr Perry, of Masterton, v*na Levin and Co.’s Lincoln Cup and Qnibbcll’s Romney Cup outright, and won Short’s Romney Marsh Challenge Cup of 100 guineas value for the second successive year. If he wins next year he will win it outright. The Sheep Din Company’s Cup was won by Elils Bros. (Bulls). E. Short's special prize of £SO for best Romney ram. to be judged for type, wool, and shape, was won by H. S. Had field (Taraparammi) and A. and .1. Grav (Masterton) a tie, Wm. Gibbon (Feilding) being second, and Gray Bros, third.
