Wanganui Harbour Board Empowering Bill.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Tlie ■■statement made by Mr Poison that the rating area included in the Jlill was grossly unfair is to my mind simply a subterfuge. The counties never asked to be excluded' from the harbour district, and were quite willing to have all the privileges and elect members to the Board. Not one word was heard of the area question till the Board decided to raise more money to continue the works, which the county representatives have been a- party to. Mr Poison and those who are with him know that the Bill will pass next session, and their only hope is to induce the Board to agree to include additional area so that they may improve their chance of obstructing the Bill in future. As a ratepayer in the Wanganui, county, and that at (he extreme end and adjoining the Main' Trunk line, I am satisfied that if the harbour works arc carried on to completion I must benefit. I hope the members of the Board and the people of AVanganui will not be hoodwinked by those who are determined to retard the progress of our port.—l am, etc., T. BOSAVALL WILLIAMS.
