A Life-Boat for Castlecliff.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —1 1 notice the Borough Council has refused to let the Opera House to any one candidate the evening prior to the general election, and I would like to appeal, through your paper, to the four candidates, to unite, secure the. Opera House, and not only give us a good time, but also make a small charge for admission of say, 6d or more, and the total proceeds go to buying a -icboat for the Castlecliff Surf Club. I do not need to write at length to convince these four gentlemen the great boon it would be to the general public to have a nice boat to band over to the club, which is doing a most useful work, and I would remind them that the sad accident which has taken place at Eoxtou within the last few days might have been completely avoided had there been organised assistance such as we have onr beach. Our Wanganui river—though beautiful—has left many such sad cases on record. I shall leave it to you, sir, to f approach the candidates on tins question. The, boat could be called after the successful candidate. I would like just here to name it, but as that might be an offence at present, I will leave it to the better judgment of all over 21.--Yours, etc., EDITH.
