Tho Petone was delayed by rough . weather last night, but sailed for Westport at 5.40 this morning. ' The auxiliary schooner Houto, with a cargo of flour from Timaru, crossed the bar late yesterday afternoon, after a rough ~voyage of seven days. She was discharging to-day. From here the Houto goes with ballast to Hokianga, thence to Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Wanganui again. Alter many fruitless efforts to get into port, the schooner-rigged\ scow Maroro, with a cargo of coal from Newcastle (N.S.W.), came up to the town wharf yesterday afternoon by the aid of her own sails. Though it is 37 days since the scow left Australia, 20 of these were spent in beating about the New Zealand coast, the winds being continually unfavourable.
