WANGANUI AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.
The committee of tlie Wanganui Agricuioiral and Pastoral Association met yesterday afternoon.' '■ Mr Fred Moore, President, occuping the chair. There was a‘fairly good attendance 'of members. ' Mr Russell road the following telegram he had that day received from the Hon. T. McKenzie:—“Following is an extract from a' communication I have received from the Hon. J. A. Millar re the depution introduced by yourself which waited upon me recently with reference to your representating in support of the request made by the Wanganui A. and P. Association for an extension of the area over which excursion tickets are issued in connection with the Association’s , annual show. I have the honour to inform you that it , has been decided to ; accede to the request and by way of an experiment holiday excursion tickets will be issued from New Plymouth, Napier, Masterton, and Wellington (Thorndonl. and all intermediate stations, to Wanganui. It will, however, depend entirely on the support accorded as to whether such an extended area ‘will bo granted in future:”—lt was decided that, the secretary should write to the Hon/ McKenzie thanking him for; the interest he had taken in the matter, and again extending an invitation to.him’to,attend. Tlie following new members were elected:—C. N. Fcrnie (life), J. C. Brpdie, J. D. Smith, Ct., W., Sampson, -J. Clarke (Waitotara), J,. Humphrey,, D. McLach,lau,..F. Travers, Tiros. Harvie,- S. Milne, F.- G. Loyeridge. «T. ; Stuart, S. Clark, McGruer, and Alex. Mason;The Feilding Holiday Committee wrote stating that they were' unable to close their shops on the day of the Wanganui show, as they were -closing 'in- the same month for the Palmerston show. Mr Griffiths, of Blenheim, a prominent dog ■ fancier, wrote stating that he would be unable to exhibit’at the show,' but that be would donate £T‘ls for a special fu/ze for the setter class next vear.—A letter of thanks to be sent to Mr Griffiths. An application'for the use of the Produce Hall was received from, the Wanganui Horticultural Society.—lt was decided to grant the application, and charge £3 3s for ; the two_ days, provided the Society enter intq an indemnity against all damage and put on a nightwatchmau, subject to the Demission of the Jockey Club. The clerk of the Taihape Borough Councu wrote stating that a whole; -holiday would, be observed at Taihape on the second day of the show. . Jt v/as decided to recommend, the printing committee to advertise the extended railway concessions in the towns concerned. „ Mi ’ Sinclair announced .that he had bec-i offered .a bolt for the 'Committeeman who collected the largest number of entries at the Palmerston show.
