CABINET APPRbVES OF NEW SCALE. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 31. Sir James Findlay states that Cabinet l-.as approved of a new scale of pay for the"'police which provides for an increase of constables’ minimum pay to 8s uerday, with increments of 6d a day every three years until the maximum of 9s Cd is j'cached. Long-service . constables will receive an additional' 6d ' after 14 years, and a further 6d after 20 years. The pay of officers and non-commissioned officers will be considered later. Sir James Findlay is now considering a system of furnishing officers of the force with houses. At present some arc renting and others living in houses provided by the State. He proposes to make the system uniform.
