HAYDN BECK.
In another column the Mayoress (Mrs C. E. Mackay) asks the ladies of Wanganui to meet in the Council Chambers to-mor-row (Thursday) aioernoon, at 3 o’clock, for the purpose of forming a committee and taking other steps to assist the energetic effort now being made to have Haydn Beca, the clever young violinist, sent to Europe for a course of study aud training. To enlarge upon tho lad’s talent is unnecessary, for it is well known. Neither is it necessary to dilate upon the duty of assisting talent, particularly native talent, and it may be confidently affirmed that, should Wanganui rise ,to the occasion in this matter, tho people Imre will, later on, have a great feeling of satisfaction in having helped one who is bound in' the future to reflect credit upon this town by his achievements in the sphere of music. We, therefore, hope to see a largo attendance of ladies to-morrow afternoon in response to Mrs Mackay’s invitation.
