Claymore, s.s., Onehunga, Friday. The Petone has completed her discharging of coal, and is taking in cattle to-day. She sails this evening for Westport. An unexpected arrival yesterday was , the Tainui, at 4.10 p.m. She was bound J ‘ft3m Waitara to Patea to load cheese for Wellington, but was unable to get ever the Patea bar. and put in here. She left the town wharf shortly after 3 p.m. today, with the intention towing in the Maroro, after which she will proceed to ' Wellington. After wandering about the coast for 10 days, the schooner-rigged scow Maroro arrived off the bar shortly before noon tb-day. Should the wind continue favourable she will be taken in tow by the Tai- ■ mil. and should berth at the wharf tonight. There was a fairly strong westerly wind and a moderate sea on the bar to-day. ■ The auxiliary schooner Houto, with a general cargo from Picton, arrived off the bar this morning. She should be in port "to-night.
