WELLINGTON COMPETITIONS.
(Pei United Press Association.) WELLINGTON', October 30. The competitions were continued today. The Town Hall was packed, and largo numbers were turned away. Results:— Solo Pianist Recital Contest, open to all; first prize, 80 gn. llechstoin piano, presented by the British and Continental Piano Company; second prize, £B—Baxter Buckley (Gore) ], Rene Queree (Wellington) 2, Madcliu Webb (Auckland) 3. There were 28 competitors, Shakespearian Dialogue (lady and gentlemen. not in character) —Miss L. Prichard (Melbourne) and Mr S. 11. Osborn (Dunedin) 1, Miss/ Thelma. Brown (Tasmania) and Mr Allan B. Young (Christchurch) 2. Tenor Solo—W. Aspinall (Auckland) 1, T. D. Collins (Wellington) 2, H. V. Green (Mastorton) 3. Soprano Solo.—Haydn Isabel Grant (Christchurch) 1, Flora Sutherland (Wanganui) 2, Georginc Duusford Barker (Christchurch) 3. - The judge, Mr Baeyertz, commenting on tbe vocal duet, which was won by the Misses Sutherland, of Wanganui, said that the winners had reserved a better vocal balance, their intonation was food, and generally theirs was the better ensemble singing. Individually the second pnza winners (two Auckland girls) possessed better voices, but, together, they lacked that accord in ensemble which was so essential in duet work.
