CRICKET.
Testerdey, the Prince of Wales's birthday, was made an opportunity for the opening match between our local cricketers. Two creditable teams from the Westport Cricket 'Club and the Citizens' Cricket Club met on the new ground in Dr Thorpe's race - course paddock, Orawaiti, and played a wellcontested match resulting in a victory to the former. The ground was in tolerably fair order, considering that it is but newly formed and that the frequent rains had made it somewhat spongy. The subjoined score is per favor of Mr A.
