INTERPROVINCIAL NEWS.

Tu the Province of Auckland, the manufacture of bags from New Zealand hemp has been commenced at the works of Messrs Fraser and Tinne, at the Northern Wairoa. The material is found to be admirably adapted for the purpose, and tbose who are now working it up into the humble form of bags are disposed to think that it will be wellsuited for other textile fabrics of a rough kind. There has been another hitch in the election of Mr Yen der Heyde for Waitematu. It is stated that the Whau polling place was closed for an hour while the messenger went to town for more ballot papers, which became exhausted shortly after noon. To make amends for this loss of an hour, the deputy-returning officer kept the booth open for an hour later, not closing till five o'clock, when it really should have been closed at four o'clock; upon this, it appears, there is to be another petition from Mr Macfarlane against Mr Yon der lieyde's return. A lieform League has been formed at Auckland, and has held its first meeting. The following resolutions were adopted : " First, 1 That the time has now arrived when the Provincial institutions in NewZealand should be abolished.' Second, ' That members of the lief or m League be enrolled on a yearly subscription of five shillings.'"
