MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
The voting for candidates to fill vacancies in the West port Municipal Council has passed oft' without excitement. The burgesses recording their votes and returning guictly home again. The result of the poll as declared at 5 p.m. was as follows: For the extraordinary vacancy caused by the retirement of Or. Suiated : Corr, John ... ... ... 17 Lloyd, Win. ... ... 45 Mimro, Join) ... ... 44 Clark, George ... ... 26 Organ; Michael ... ... 17 Black'lock, John ... ... 14 Wfiyte; "Robert 8 .Dickenson, Thomas ... 2 Ward, John 2 For lho three ordinary vacancies tl.o voles :4a d thus : Munro, Jehu ... ... 11l Organ, Michael 112 Corr, John ... 110 Black lock, John ... ... 70 Whytc, Robert 70 Dickenson, Thomas ... 25 Clark, George ... ... 22 Lloyd, William (5 Ward, John... ... ... 5
Messrs Munro and Oigan are thus elected for tho ordinary vacancy, and Mr Corr for both. According to tho ruling of tho Mayor, as presiding officer, ho will, therefore, have to declare which election ho will accept, and another election will bo held for tho fourth place.
