Through pressure of creditors Wiltshire has been compelled to give up his feat of walking 1000 miles in 1000 hours. The Times and Guardian favor abolition in the North and advise representatives of Middle Island to withdraw opposition, if Government will make favorable terms for land fund in provinces in the South. A public meeting will be held at Port Chalmers 10-morrow, re Provincial Abolition Resolutions, to strengthen Mr Macandrew's hands. A sale of unreclaimed sections in the Bay, yesterday, realised sixteen thousand six hundred pounds ; the largest amount for one day's sals yet realised in the province. NEW" PLYMOUTH. August 20. The Herald advocates abolition of provinces. Captain Ellis, of Auckland, has bought the hull of the steamer Patterson. The Eliza Mary, has been repaired, and gone to Duuedin to be put on the slip. AUCKLAND. August 20. Iu compliance with an influential repuisition, the Mayor has convened a public meeting for to-night, to consider Mr Vogel's resolutions.
