Last night [the motion for a further payment to the Buller Towing Track Company of £547 was carried upon a division, after a lengthy speech by the Charleston member in opposition.ilffhe Appropriation Act, including the following items —Nile Bridge, £1000; Four Mile Water Race, £SOO ; Bridge, Fox's River, £150; Bridge, Six Mile, £l75 —was passed through all its stages. A motion by the Charleston member lor making the re-construction of the Nile Bridge one of the first public works to be undertaken was revived by that gentleman last night, and. again opposed by the Provincial Secretary, but unsuccessfully, tho question being carried on the voices. A further motion by the member for Charleston, as amended by the Provincial Secretary, to the eiFect that provision be made by the Superintendent out of the proposed loan towards the construction of the Four Mile Water Race, was also carried. A motion at an earlier stage by the same member for recommittal of Estimates, to abolish the blocking of Totes under the heading "Justice," was opposed by Goyernment, and lost. The Council met again this morning. It is expected it will be prorogued to-night.

The Superintendent has received a letter from the Governor stating that he expects to leave Manukau in the Blanche tomorrow, and will arrive at Nelson on Friday. The Provincial Council will bo prorogued this afternoon. HOKITLKA. June 9. A notice of motion of no confidence in present Executive, to be moved this evening has been tabled in the Provincial Council. June 10. The vote of want of confidence in the newly appointed Executive lapsed, in absence of the mover. The Provincial Solicitor and Provincial Secretary made official statements, but suggesting nothing important beyond adopting a sliding scale in household rate on Education Bill. DUNEDIN. June 10. The Provincial Council on Monday night passed a resolution to repay sixpence per ounce to exporters of gold produced in the province during the current year. PORT CHALMERS. June 9. The steamship Atrato, Captain Husband, has arrived from London, in 59 days. Cal'ed at the Cape to coal and provision. She is in quarantine having six cases of measles. 32 deaths occurred on the voyage, all but one were infants ; no deaths from infectious diseases, but there were six from convulsions, nine of bowel complaints and 17 from croup. She has 762 souls on board, IS9 for Otago, the rest for Canterbury. There has been 120 cases of measles but all very mild. June 10. The Atrato is admitted to pratique. She bring 2S saloon passengers. LTTTELLON. June 9. A fresh case of small pox has occurred among the Northampton immigrants. WELLINGTON. June 9. By the Albion the Government received a telegram from the Loan Agents, to the effect that the balance of £1,500,000, of 4 -}j per cent debentures had been sold.
