THE WESTLAND EXECUTIVE.

The Grey River Argus, of the sth instant, says that the Superintendent of "Westland having invited Mr Guinness to form an Executive, that gentleman succeeded in doing so yesterday. The portfolios are distributed as follows : —Mr A. 11. Guinness, Provincial Solicitor ; Mr John White, Provincial Secretary and Treasurer; and Mr Peter Dungan, Goldlields Kepresentative. "We presume that Mr White will, as a matter of course, resign the Speakership, and it is probable that he will also see it to be his duty to resign his seat iu the House of Eepresentatives, for it would hardly coincide with what has been expressed in the Couucil if both the Superintendent and the Secretary and Treasurer were to be absent for three mouths at Welliugton."

" Speed," in the Greymouth Star, says : —Of course AVestlaud wants an Executive. What absurdity to suppose otherwise. A Provincial Secretary, a Provincial Treasurer, and a Provincial Solicitor. Then the Government offices will never be left iu charge of a messenger. Office hours : 10 till 3. Duties : when his Honor is disengaged, whist; when his Honor's duties compel his attendance at Wellington, cutthroat euchre. Extra salary to messenger on accsunt of increased work in keeping said Executive supplied with beer. That's the programme. Don't I wish I was a member of the Council.
