[From herald ahd argus.] Energetic.—The contractors for tlic coal tramway arc making first class headway. The worst of the earth work has been got through and the tramway will bo laid with all despatch so as to enable the Band of Hope batteries to be conveyed to their future site, they having been disposed of to the Energetic Com" pany. Maruia— Up to last Saturday this party had 200 tons of quartz crushed, which is yielding quite up to the expectations of the manager. The crushing will wind up with 350 tons. The mine throughout is looking very promising. Maloney's.—The western leader has been opened out where the face shows IS inches of quartz wi';h good gold. Moste Chrisxo.—'lho tunnel is

being pushed on and tlio manager is confident of cutting the Muruia leader at 100 feet further in. Beeak o'Dast.—An injunctiou was obtained against this company by Messrs Carroll and Cairns, forbidding tlicm to throw any headings on to a piece of spare ground which has been applied for by those gentlemen. This has had the effect of stopping the work at the new leader, anil also on the low level tunnel. Work has been suspended at the- winze in consequence of foul air. Tichboiine.—The manager's report that the reef is payable has been received satisfactory, and the shareholders have decided upon suspending operations at the old level, and have commenced a new tunnel 80 feet from the old tunnel on a higher level. Mining leases. —Notice is given by the Provincial Secretary of intention to grant thirty-three goldmining leases, after two months from the 22nd ultimo. Calls.—Band of Hope, two pence ; Inaugahua Gold Mining and Crushing, sixpence; Just in Time, two pence. All payable on Wednesday 13th instant. Meeting.—The half-yearly meeting of the Just-in-Time Co. will be held to-morrow, the 9th instant.
