[Anglo*Australian Press Telegraph Agency] NELSON. April 28. In the Supreme Court, yesterday, Edward Eeilly pleaded guilty to stealing a Post Office letter containing money, and was sentenced to three years penal servitude. DUNEDLN. April 27. The prospectus of a new bank, to bo called the Colonial Bank, has beeu issued this day. Capital, £2,500,000, in shares of £5 each. It is proposed to offer the people of the colony, in fair proportions, half of the shares on calculation of population in each province, and the other portion to be disposed of thereafter as rapidly as the progress of the colony may warrant and as shareholders decide. In no case will the remaining shares be offered outside the colony without New Zealand shareholders having the first opportunity of taking them up. The head office will be in Dunedin, in suitable premises already secured. A provisional committee of forty has been appointed—all Otago men. A motion has been made in the Supreme Court for the attachment of George Bell, proprietor of the Evening Star, his Solicitor, and Directors of Guardian Company, in consequence of article in Guardian recuse Macassey v. Bell. The Judge took time to consider article before granting rule.

April 28. Parliament will open for despatch of business on 3rd July next. April 29. He initiating the scheme of storm signals projected by the Commissioner of Customs—The requisite instructions will be taken for North Island to-day by steamer Ladybird. The whola scheme is expected to be in working order early next month. The Provincial Lands sale realised £7458. Wanganui lands averaged £3 per acre ; Masterton £3 10s; some Palmerstou sections fetched £3O per half acre. The net result was that land has fetched over 20 per cent more than the upset price. TATJRANGA. April 29. Two Governors and party have left in the Blanche for Auckland.
