AFTER DARK IN WESTPORT.
At peaceful eventide, I blow my mild cheroot, And round the town I glide, Before I go to roost.
River banks I shun, That is after dark, Ever siuco I fell Down a perfumed shaft, Streets are dark and drear, Hotsemen gallop wild, Into ditches deep Driving truant child.
Ever and anon, Startling sounds I hear, Gazing round I see Some snoozer on the beer.
Lights dimly gleam From publics wide and far, Barmaids making love Over every bar.
Felines at midnight Balmy sleep destroy, Tom to his Maria Howling notes of joy,
Midnight low tide breeze, Bathing shrub and tree, Bah ! I cannot staud, 'Tis too strong for mo. William Nutts
