MORNING IN WESTPORT.
Yes ! Its very sweet at morn', To smoke your pipe at ease, And near the beach inhale the smell, That's borne upon the breeze.
The little grunters, too, Are rooting 'bout the streets, Casting tho muck abroad Which smells so precious sweet.
And at my feet, poor puss Lies iu a putrid state; Who in the " murmuring waters," Untimely met her fate.
Yes! In the distance, too, Is Mac's wharf plain and clear, Where I shall earn my ten bob sure. And a good blow out of beer.
And tho tints of cloud-like vapour, Rising softly from below, Are from ditches in the streets, With animalcules all a glow.
And the sun in golden splendour, Shines on muck, nigs, cat, and stream, And the smell is most peculiar. But not at all serene. William Nit its. Westport, Feb. 2S.
