A tetter in our open column signed " Civis calls attention to a subject which should not be disregarded. Laud is wanted for recreative" purposes within easy access of the township. Land also is wanted by the Council that shall yield Municipal revenues. A majority in the Council decide that certain land shall be set apart as recreation ground. The minority object, and with them many ratepayers, for, so they say, the land chosen is the best for occupation by residents, of any to be found within the Municipal boundaries. It has a frontage to the newly made government road, stands high and dry, and to be easily cleared of timber, and might if offered on lease in sections yield a certain and acceptable revenue. " Civis "is quite right in calling attention to this matter. The Municipal estate cannot be too jealously guarded from infringement, and future difficulties avoided by present careful action. The block of land selected by the Council is undoubtedly in a good position as a recreation ground, but the question is whether it might not be turned to more profitable account. Looking at the plan of the township, it appears to us that the sections chosen would give ample space for a recreation ground with river frontage and leave intact the frontages to the Nine Mile road for lease to occupiers.
