CHARLESTON HIBERNIAN BALL.

(CONDENSED FltOM THE CHARLESTON HERALD.) The fourth anniversary celebration of No. 20, Charleston branch, of the Hibernian Australian Catholic Benefit Society Was celebrated on Thursday evening, the Ist instant, by a ball and banquet. The evening, was a bright moonlight one, and thus made the occasion more enjoyable. The ball room at the Theatre Royal, which had been nicely decorated with evergreens, flowers, and flags, looked perfection, and reflected credit on those on whom the duly of managiug the display devolved. We noticed that illuminated scrolls bearing the mottoes of the order, "Amor et BeneVolentia,'' and " Faith, Hope, and Charity," were displayed to advantage, and the hospitable welcome—" Caed Mille Failthea" Was so conspicuously placed as to be the first object on which the eye would fall on entering the ball room. About eight o'clock the brethren started from their lodge room, headed by Rosen - bcrg'B baud, and marched round the

township to some popular Irish quick. steps, and executed their marching in a creditable manner. The Brighton branch was represented in the procession, by their President, Bro Murphy, as also the Foresters by their Chief "Ranger, Bro Berg, and the Oddfellows by their tfoble Grand, Bro James Taylor. The ball was opened about ten o'clock, and the room soon assumed a very gay and animated appearance, the costumes of the ladies being very prettily got up, and becoming thorn very well indeed. The banquet had been laid in Weitzell's Hotel, and about midnight the company proceeded thither, there being, we estimate, about 100 couples present. In'proposing and responding to the toasts of "The Pope," "Our Native land," Kindred Societies," " Kindred Brethren," " The land we live in," "The Charleston Branch, H.A.B.C.S-" •' The Press," " T1.% ladies," and the " Host and Hostess ;" neat and effective speeches were made by the Chairman, Mr 11. Delany; and Messrs. M'Enroe, Nester, Enright, Sexton, Keirns, Xirkpatrick, Weitzel, and others.
