FISH OF ONE, FLESH OF 'TOTHER.
(To the Editor of the WestpOrt Times.) Sir, —I want to know why a certain privileged individual, a disciple of EsCulapius, is permitted continually to get drunk, to rave obscenely in the public streets, to disgrace the community, and become in every respect a public nuisance, simply by paying to the provincial authorities art occasional donation in the shape of a fine ? I like my beef, but would expect that if my libations to Bacchus or Hooper and Dodsori extended beyond discretion, the police would look after me, and his Worship would* with solemn ceremony, reprimand arid fine me for the first offence, and thereafter, if beef was still my failing, would give me a free ticket for lodgment in Frariklyn's Hotel, with perhaps the casual accompaniment Or hard labor. But I cannot understand why one particular individual, who when in liquor is to all intents and purposes a bertst, should be given the privilege* time after time* of getting off by payment of a fine. Would it not be mote to the advantage of the community, and more in accordance with popular ideas of strict judicial impartiality, to give the unfortunate dipsomaniac thfee or four months in the logs, instead of continually going through the farcical and useless ceremony of fining him ? Tours, Sec, Not a Good Tempiae;
