ALBION COAL COMPANY.
(To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sir, —My connection with the' Albion Coal Company, and personal acquaintance with Mr Beetharn, its Managing Director, compel meto 1 notice certain statements and reports tending to injure both. I do so simply for the purpose of requesting the local shareholders in the above company, and the Westport public generally, to suspend their judgment ou these matters until Mr Beetharn (an absent man) has had an opportunity of refutation or explanation. I make this appeal with the more confidence, believing that in no slight degree has the action of the Albion Company, and its predecessors the proprietors of the Ngakawbau Coalmine, contributed to bring about our present cheering prospects —-the having our coalfields made accessible by railway, our town protected, and our port a permanent and secure one.— Tours, &c, S. Thoepe. Westport, Oct. IG, 1573.
