Per Murriy, from Greymouth—l parcel, Bank N.S. Wales ; 1 truss drapery, Thomas and M'Beath. The s.s. Kennedy, W. Conway, Commander, left Nelson at 6 o'clock on Monday evening, and in consequence of strong N.W. wind aud heavy sea had to run for shelter into Totaranui. Left Totaranui next morning, arriving hero at 11 o'clock on Wednesday moruing. She discharged cargo and left again tho same eveniug at 7 o'clock for southern ports.
The Greymouth bar is now being worked with perfect easo. By the Claud Hamilton tho harbor-master reoeived a superior signal lamp for use at the Greymouth signal-station. It is similar to the ■one which was procured some time ago for Westport, showing a light over a considerable radius, and should prove to be of good service in guiding vessels into port at night or in enabling them to ascertain their position when remaining in the roadstead. The schooner Lizzie Guy, from Melbourne, was towed into Hokitika on Friday last by the Titan.
On Tuesday last Captain Carey, of the Wellington, responded to an invitation given hiiu to meet a number of gentlemen at Murray's Private Hotel, Dunedin, and on the occasion advantage was taken to present him with a massive silver inkstand in recognition of his services The inkstand, which is a splendid specimen of the silversmith's art, bore the f< flowing inscription:—"Presented to M. Carey, by the Rev. A. 1). Kininimont, Mtssrs G. Gould and G. W, M'Rae, as a small token of their grateful apprecia' ion of his noble conduct in rescuing the passengers ■ and crew ofthes.s. Rangitoto on 30th July, 1873." The schooner Cynthia is offered for sale at Wellington.
