The Independent of to-day says the effect of the opposition to the National Bank Bill would be to prevent the Bank commencing operations for a year. It is understood in well-informed circles that an opposition is in organisation with .fc'itzherbert as leader. A move will be made on the budget. GREYMOUTH. August 11. A hundred men are still on strike on Hungerford's contract. They held a meeting on Saturday night, and resolved not to take less than eleven shillings per day.
