COAL RESERVE SECTIONS.
Messrs Humphrey and Fisher, while iu Nelson, waited ori the Provincial Secretary to corisult upon this subject, and, acting on his advice, telegraphed to Westport to obtain signatures to the following petition. The document has been very numerously signed, and will be despatched by ari early boat: *'To His Honor Oswald Curtis, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Nelson. " Sir, —We the undersigned, inhabitants of "Westporti section-holders on the Coal Quay Reserve, respectfully memorialize that your Honor will be pleased to give effect tb the recommendations of the Provincial Council made during last session with reference to handing over the Reserves within the Municipal boundaries to, and vesting the same, in the Borough Council of Westport, in order to an early settlement of the question affecting the allotment, tenure, and rental of such sections as are, or may be, held on the Coal Quay Reserve, thereby inducing permanent settlement and affording the Borough Council means df raising additional revenue for the purpose of carrying out local improvements. " And your memorialists will ever pray."
