BULLER COAL AND RAILWAY COMMITTEE.
Tho following telegram is published at the request of his Honor the Superintendent : Nelson, June 10, 1873. J. W. Humphrey, Esq., He Walker's prospecting license : The Committee appear to have overlooked that Walker's license, which gives no permanent rights, is over the Mount Rochfort plateau, although in the taking block square a small corner extends down tho Waimangaroa. Any lease which may be granted to Walker will be for a few hundred acres of the Mount Rochfort plateau only, and cannot affect the railway question, unless very remotely. Certainly Walker's license need in no degree impede the action of the General Government about the railway from Ngakawhau to Westport, to which I directed their attention fourteen months ago, and which can only be practically affected by coal mines on the western slopes of Mount Rochfort range. Please give publication to this telegram. Oswald Curtis, Superintendent.
