EXPORTS. Per Lizzie Guy, for Melbourne —20 tons ';...lt:sand tallow, Organ. The schooner Rose of Eden was not, as j "ported in our last issue, driven back by •< usturly winds from Little Wangauui, but horn Wangauui Inlet,'where she obtained a ■= .irgo of coal from the seam -which has been -v.orked there for some years past and from •u hence one or more shipments sometime -:i,o came to Westpert. The s.s, Waipara -again Trent tip to the LNgakawhau for coal on Tuesday last but «c<»ild not <jross tbe bar. On Wednesday i oi> was employed dragging snags from the l!».:d of the Buller River. The iLizsieJGuy clears out to-day for Melil.nirne, in ballast, althongh sufficient coal '■ .s on tho river bank to freight her. The I ice charged is too high for shipments to i e Melbourne .market. The state of the Greymouth bar has of il.ite I een so bad that even Greymouth jitiople are compelled to admit that it has a « i-trimental effect upon local trade, being ] ioductive of much inconvenience in preventing prompt communication with the Melbourne steamers. The Murray will leave Nelson for Westj orb to-morrow in charge of -Captain Whit-v\-11, and will run along tho coast in place i-.f the Charles Edward, which latter vessel will now undergo a thorough overhaul. The Harbor-Master, Captain Leech, has < i mpleted the removal of snags obstructing me free channel to the Wakefield street v Uarf, and steamers may now go alongside, supposing shippers or consignees may ■<.•• loose to have goods landed there. The Maid of Krin has been sold to Melbourne purchasers, and may not again trade I . the Weft Coast. A movement; has been initiated at II okitika which promises to be most suc- < sst'ul, for establishing a local company, v iiich will not only have a bug for the use * c the port but will purchase other vessels. A meeting of those interested has already I 'On held, and a large sum subscribed for i n! purpose, in addition to which it is ex--i .'cted that shippers from a distance will jilso take a number of shares, and there can ,i! together bo no doubt of tho company being successfully floated. At the preliminary meeting £6500 was subscribed in the room, and tho telegraph has been busy in procuring further shareholders. It is j •i-nposedto purchase a double engine steam l«g to begin with, wlwse services will not '>e confined to Hokitika, but will be avail•..hle at the Grey, or even at Westport on occasion. In addition to this the associa--loh contemplate buying two or three > easels from 200 to 250 tons each, not for i -ading specially to Melbourne, but to any <■ liur place where sufficient inducement nlfers, or in other words where it will pay to -on them. The promoters of the projected company are in earnest, and as they happen i o bo men of means there is no doubt whatever that they will carry out the enterprise, V!ie proposed capital is £ISOOO, in JES ! Iri.res. Mr William Evans is the acting i-ecretary tor the association.
