A petition is in course of signature praying for the construction of a road from the Mohikinui township np to the new reefs on that river. A work which if under taken will be the greatest benefit to the district. The richness of the reefs, and their extent has been proved beyond doubt, and it only needs some comparatively slight outlay to enable a fast increasing population to settle in the 'long neglected Moliikinui district. The present is a peculiarly favorable time for applying to the Provincial Government. The Council will bo sitting immediately, and the Coast members may be interviewed
