THE SUPERINTENDENT AT CHARLESTON.
The visit of his Sobor to Charleston has attracted soine little attention The Herald reports that a deputat<j n consisting of Messrs Dwan, Jontq and Haines waited upon the Superintendent in order to bring several matters of interest to the district under his notice. The bridge over the Four-mile, his Honor said he had, before leaving Nelson, given instructions to have rebuilt "With regard to the Addison's road; did the cost not exceed £2OO, he thought he could have a bridle track inade to connect the made portions; as also have improvements made in the Westport and Charleston roads out of the sum due the Goldfields Road Boards from the G-eneral Government: A new cemetery, when selected, he would grant, and probably pay the whole of the fencing connected therewith. His Hono* would, however, see if anything could bo done to reduce the survey fees* though he doubted it, as there was a fixed scale for the whole of the Goldfields. The deputation then withdrew* thanking his Honor for his kindness in listening to the wants expressed; and his satisfactory answers thereto. Previously a meeting had been convened by Mr George Donne, to discus* the advisability of what should W said and done on the Superintendent's I but the meeting seems to bavsH eventuated in nothing more than tali* ■ and, as the Herald says, ridicule IS instead of reason ruled the roast. His Honor held a meeting at Cbaf'H leston on Friday night, but of whiciH the report has not yet come to hand: B
