THE INTERCOLONIAL CONFERENCE.
Toe Sydney Empire, writing respecting this Conference, gives the following description of the accommodation provided for the delegates:— The conference is to be held at the Treasury, Macquarie-etreet, were a suite of rooms has been elegantly fitted up for the purpose. The room in which the sittings will be held is tastilv upholstered and decorated. The roof is silver paper, with stars of gold, corniced in oak leave*. The walls are in white satin paper, etudded with gold and silver crosses and stars. The carpet is blue, with golden fleur de lis. The room has been fitted with a magnificent white marble mantelpiece, stove, and other conveniences. In the centre of the apartment is a long broad and massive mahogany table, with portable desks and drawers for each. It is intended to have map stands, with pointing rods for elucidating. There will be a large map of the world, maps of Australia, and of every separate Colony. The inner chamber is also ■elegantly fitted up. In short, the whole has been prepared in admirable style under Mr Eager's directions; and it is understood that the Treasurer is to give up his room for the use of the Conference during the sittings, Mr Lloyd meanwhile occupying another chamber in the building, where he will transact the business of his department
