PUBLIC CEMETERY.

The newly appointed Trustees and Managers of the Orawaiti Cemetery —Messrs C. H. W. Bowen, J. S. Fleming, E. Roche, R. Whyte, and Hugh Neil—have lost no time in exercising the functions of their office. Immediately after being gazetted they applied to the Nelson Executive for a grant in aid, and a reply has been promptly accorded them, stating that a sum of £75 was at their disposal for the improvement of the cemetery. A meeting of the Trustoes was held

yesterday, and it was decided that plans and specifications should be prepared for fencing the cemetery,, clearing a portion of the ground, and generally performing such works as the available funds will permit.
