It ia the intention of the Provincial Government to apply to the Council for power to grant leases for fourteen years to those persons who shall have built on their allotments before the 31st of December next, occupation until that date being allowed on payment of Five Pounds. IT is hereby notified that the Application of Stephen Watson for a Goldmiuing Lease of a block of land containing five acres, more or less, situated at Giles' Terrace, Buller District, has been withdrawn. "OHN MOLLOY is hereby authojl rised,-under the Provisions of Sections XIII of " The Goldfields Act, 186G," to keep a Ferry Boat on the Totara River, and charge tolls, until the 31st December, 1873, as per schedule, on the following conditions : 1. That a competent Ferryman be always in attendance, with a good safe boat and proper rope for crossing horses. 2. That all Government Officers, including road overseers, laborers, and postmen, when on duty, shall be ferried across the said river free of charge. This protection shall not be transferred without the sanction of the Superintendent. The Warden of the District shall, on being satisfied that the Ferry service is not being conducted in a proper and efficient manner, and in accordance with the above conditions, have power to suspend the operation of this protection until the matter of complaint bo removed.
