The Queen has approved the appointment of Sir George Bowen, the present Governor of New Zealand to succeed Viscount Canterbury as Governor of Victoria. Sir James Fergasou, Governor of South Australia, will succeed Sir George Bowen in New Zealand. Nov. 10. Money tightening, discount 7 per cent. Mr Secretary Fish lias tendered his resignation of Office to the Government of the United States. He will relinquish his post in March. A Gazette has been published setting forth terms of French Treaty with regard to the following important duties which will come into operation on Ist December. Wool, greasy 3 francs 7 centimes: washed G francs 14 centimes. Bar copper, 70 francs 12 centimes. Tin, 15 francs each case, duty being changed per 100 kilogrammes.

A Commission has been appointed to meet at Paris, for the purpose of discussing certain questions remaining unsettled respecting duties. The Commissioners will afterwards make enquiry into the fishery laws.
