INANGAHUA REEFS.
The undermentioned item? of mining news from the reefs arc given on the authority of the ' Herald ' —Murray Creek tramroad to Black's Point is fast nearing completion. Energetic GoJdmining Company, the erection of the machinery of this is rapidly progressing, the machine house itself as also the skillion covering the tables being finished as far as the framing, the stamper boxes laid, and other parts avebeing attached. The water piping is ready for laying and bolting. At the claim all hands are busy in preparing paddock and tram. There is a good heap of stone ready. The Band of Hope Goldmining Company are still driving in the upper tunnel on the reef and putting some
firsfc-class atone to grass; are also steadily pushing on with the drive in the lower ttinucl, following up the pug; no reef yet obtained, though good indications apparent. The existence of the pug, together with several small broken leaders being some security for the close existence of it. The machinery for this claim is partly on the ground. The United Band of Hope Company, Kelly's line, have decided to drive the prospecting tunnel for a considerable distance. This tunnel has already been driven into the hill for over 350 feet, and at a lower depth than the Golden hill by something liko lOOffc. Good indications of the reef being obtained. The cause which haa induced i the directors to prospect the north end of their ground is tHfe fact that the Victoria Company are getting capital stone, and from present appearances the United Bank of Hope would only have to drive 100 ft before the Victorian reef would be intercepted, and the Golden Hill reef must also be intercepted, and when once obtained, across the gully there can be no difficulty in tracing it into the Westland claim which adjoins the Golden Hill. It is the opinion that there are two distinct reefs running in the same parallel in the locality referred to, and the matter may be set at rest by the United Band of Hope striking both reefs.
The Westland battery has crushed 4GO tons for the Goldeu Hill. Plates looking well, and all things working smoothly. On Monday next the Victorian crushing will commence, and will occupy the battery till new year's day. After that the Inglewood company will run their quartz through. The rate charged for crushing is 25s per ton.
The All Nations are driving on the reef in the cross-cut, being now in about 30ft, with a good body of stone showing well.
