EXHIBITION OF COLONIAL PRODUCTS.
At a meeting of the Westport Committee held on Friday evening last the following business was transacted : Messrs A. D. Dob son. ~W. D. Kerr, and A. Stitt were elected members of the Committee. Telegrams to and from "Warden Broad at Beefton, and letter to Mr Dwan, of Charleston, were read and received. Schedules of queries were proposed and adopted, for transmission to persons sending specimens, in order that a detailed description of claims and localities might be compiled by the committee. Mr Dobson's offer to procure specimens of coal from Mount Eochfort, Waimangaroa, and Coal Creek, and also to contribute a description of the coals, the districts whence obtained, and the mode of, or facilities'for, working was accepted with thanks. The secretary was authorised to enter into correspondence with the sub-committee at Christchurch having charge of the department of minerals, as to mode of exhibiting specimens, and to obtain general information for the guidance of the committee.
