The very satisfactory result of the meeting on Wednesday evenirg, may be accepted as a cheering indication of still greater success when the purposed action becomes more widely known. There can be no difference of opinion as to the desirability of the Nelson South-west Goldfields being worthily represented at the forthcoming Colonial Exhibition at Christchurch, and thereafter, all things favoring, at Vienua. Nether will any doubt arise as to the expediency of clearly incleiitifying each particular portion of the goldfields furnishing its own special exhibits. The willing co-operation of elaiinholders may be relied on when it is kuown that the Committee purpose collecting specimens of quartz, alluvial gold, wash dirr, coal, and ores from every owner of mining property willing to give them ; and to arrange such gifts with the distinct object of rot only showing the actual product-', but also conveying to the public by means of concisely tabulated particulars, the names, locality, nature of work, extent of ground, and average yield of every claim represented. To achieve perfect success in this will necessitate vigorous and instant action, seeing that on the first of the coming month the Christchurch Exhibition opens ; but we doubt not that the Westporfc Committee and also the various District Committees will find their labors lightened and all difficulties smoothed away by the generous and willing assistance of the general public. There is no need of pointing out the benefits to arise from such action. They are many and selfevident to everyone who believes in the wisdom of hiding not his light beneath a bushel.
