(per gbeyille's telegram COJIPAS?.^ Melbourne, October 24. The Baroda arrived at the heads on the 18th with the English Mail. The latest dates are London. September 26 ; Galle, September 28. GENERAL SUMMARY "Wools are twopencs to threepence higher. The Geneva Arbitration condemn England to pay three and a quarter millions sterling to America. The steamer Atrao, for Melbourne, narrowly escaped shipwreck in the Channel, and put back to Plymouth. Eight detachments of railway laborers were despatched to New Zealand per the Chili, for Brogden's railways. Tenders have been mailed for the Californian Mail Service. England agrees to maintain mail service from London to G-alle, and to contribute £40,000 for the service from Galle to Australia. Bishop Selwyn's son succeeds Bishop Patterson as Bishop of Polynesia. The wheat harvest in England has been deficient in quantity and quality. Iron i 3 lower in price. The decrease in New Zealand shipments for the month is £116,000 Clearances : Ships, three. Hemp is £1 to £2 lower, market steady, supply brisk, preserved meats brisk. New Zealand flax, £36 to £4O; tow scarce, £lB to £lB ss. Tallows flat, lower Adelaide wheat sixty-five to sixtyeight shillings. The shares of the National Bank of New Zealand have been allotted. Consols: 92i SHIPPING. Arrivals —Harvest Home, Caduceus, Celaeno, Margaret Galbraith, Zealandie, Charlotte Gladstone, Crusader. Sailed For Auckland, Nortbam Castle, and Agnes Muir.
