There is a present scarcity of small craft in •i'ort Philip waters; every handy vessel for sale being bought up for the pearl fishery trade, which proves far more remunerative than ordinary coasting ventures.
The R.a St Kilda. fi-om Wanganui direct, with a consignment of cattle for ttiis port, may be expected to-day. Siie left \Vanganui at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, but must have experienced bad weather from the north-ward, which has probably compelled her to run tor shelter.
The Charles Edward left Kelson for this port oa Wednesday, ac 2 p.m., but owing to bad weather had not arrived in the roadstead at dusk last evening. She will most likely come in this morning, and proceed south at afternoou^tide.
