THE WESTLANDERS LAMENT.
A PARODT, I ? ell me not you hold a number, ! Westland Shares, at thirty bob, j Scrip, that every cash-bor lumbers, [ Alas, it is a sorry job. Keefs are real, Reefers earnest, And to do our best we try, I'ar thou art, to par returnest, Mover more will be our cry. Not in funds, we e'en must borrow. Such our destined end or way, Bi't still hoping that each morrow, us richer thaa to-day, Duns are strong, credit fleeting, And our l?anks ([ grant 'tis true), ■Still the same sad words repeating, Money we have not for you. In the share markets, gr«at battle. In the ups and downs of life, Keep your pecker up and that'll Help you onward in the strife. Trust to future dealings pleasant, Keekon past transactions dead, Think not of the gloomy present, Hope your best and go a-head. The luck of those who sold reminds us We should have realised as well, And departing left behind us, Share certificates to sell. Scrip such as perhaps another, Who of panics never thought. A forlorn half-ruined brother, Wishes he had never bought. Let us then be up and tnoviDg, To the Lyell over yonder, Where we'll patch our broken fortunes In a second " Little Wonder." SomefelijOW. Lyell, Oct. Bth, 1872.
